Counting What We Can’t See
Reception children at St Joseph’s Catholic Academy in Norton have been exploring an exciting new maths concept: counting things they can’t see. Earlier in the week, they practised counting actions and sounds. More recently, they turned their attention to counting periods of time.
Time Challenges in the Sunshine
Working in pairs outdoors, the children took part in fun time‑based challenges. They tested how long they could balance on one leg and timed how long it took to travel across the playground. The sunshine made the activities even more enjoyable!
Learning Through Play
This hands‑on experience helped the children develop early measurement skills while having lots of fun together. Their smiles, teamwork and enthusiasm showed just how much they gained from the session.
A brilliant outdoor maths adventure for Reception!
