Power of Women Programme at St Joseph’s Catholic Academy in Norton
Our POW (Power of Women) Ambassadors are thriving in their new roles, and their latest development experience took them to the Cummins Engineering Plant in Darlington — an inspiring introduction to the world of work and modern industry.
Exploring Engineering, Robotics and Workplace Equality
During the visit, the children were amazed to watch robots navigate the factory floor as part of advanced manufacturing processes. From a safe viewpoint, they observed technology in action while learning how engines and machinery are designed, produced and tested.
They also explored important workplace values such as:
- Diversity
- Equity
- Inclusion
- Culture
Their confidence grew as they discussed equality in the workplace and how these values shape modern careers.
Networking With Professionals
The children had the opportunity to speak with professionals working in:
- Investment management
- Law
- Journalism
- Engineering
- Other specialist careers
This networking experience helped them see the wide range of opportunities available and encouraged them to dream big about their futures.
Looking Forward to Their Next Development Day
After such an inspiring visit, our POW Ambassadors are excited for their next steps. Their confidence, curiosity and leadership continue to grow - and we can’t wait to see where their journey takes them next.
