Understanding What AI Is - and What It Isn’t
Class 9 at St Joseph’s Catholic Academy in Norton has been exploring the fascinating topic of Artificial Intelligence and how it works. They learned that AI tools learn from data, spot patterns, and make predictions - and while they can be incredibly helpful, they are not always accurate.
Learning About Bias, Privacy, and Staying Safe Online
Children discussed how AI can show bias if it learns from limited or unbalanced information. They explored why it’s important to think critically about the answers AI gives and not assume everything it produces is correct.
The class also had thoughtful conversations about personal data, understanding the importance of protecting their private information and avoiding sharing it with apps or AI tools.
Balancing the Pros and Cons
Class 9 weighed up the benefits and risks of AI brilliantly.
They recognised that AI can support ideas, creativity and learning, but also that it must be used carefully, safely, and responsibly. We are very proud of their maturity, curiosity, and online‑safety awareness!
