At St Joseph’s Catholic Academy in Norton, we transformed Blue Monday into a day filled with colour, positivity and kindness! Pupils and staff across the school arrived wearing bright, cheerful clothing, bringing warmth and joy to what is often called the “saddest day of the year.”

Supporting The Headlight Project

Alongside the vibrant outfits, families kindly sent in small donations in support of The Headlight Project, a local charity dedicated to mental health awareness and suicide prevention. Thanks to the generosity of our wonderful community, we were able to make a meaningful contribution.

Learning About Mental Health and Wellbeing

Throughout the day, pupils took part in activities focused on:

  • The importance of mental health and emotional wellbeing
  • How small acts of kindness and positivity can brighten someone’s day
  • The value of connection, friendship and looking out for one another

These conversations helped children understand that caring for our mental health is just as important as caring for our physical health.

A Bright and Uplifting Day

It was wonderful to see our school filled with smiles, colour and compassion. By coming together, we showed how positivity can make a real difference — both within our classrooms and in our wider community.

Thank you to everyone who supported the day and helped raise awareness for such an important cause.
