Despite the wet weather, our Year 3 and Year 4 pupils had an amazing day exploring the Tees Barrage! The children were fascinated to discover how the barrage operates and even had the chance to open and close the boat gates, control the video cameras, and watch firefighters training in the water.
The highlight of the trip was spotting the famous otter and seals that make the river their home! Throughout the visit, our pupils demonstrated incredible curiosity, teamwork, and respect, living out the Catholic Social Teachings of care for creation and community and participation.
This hands-on experience brought science, geography, and citizenship to life in a truly memorable way. It was a fantastic day of learning and discovery that our children will never forget!
