Reception pupils at St Joseph's Catholic Academy in Norton have been enjoying a week of exciting learning as they explored the topic of facial features through a variety of creative and hands-on activities.
The engaging topic has encouraged children to learn more about themselves while developing important skills across the curriculum.
Discovering What Makes Us Unique
The children began by using mirrors to carefully observe their facial features, identifying different parts of their faces and discussing what makes each person unique.
They then used their observations to create self-portraits, proudly showcasing their artistic skills and attention to detail.
Learning Through Play and Exploration
In continuous provision, pupils took part in a range of activities linked to the topic. They practised their cutting skills by creating different faces and strengthened their fine motor skills by making facial features from playdough.
The children also explored the importance of good hygiene by practising brushing teeth, helping them develop healthy habits as part of their learning.
A Fantastic Week in Reception
Staff have been delighted with the enthusiasm and maturity shown by the children throughout the week.
Pupils demonstrated kindness, respect and excellent behaviour towards their friends and the adults around school, making the class incredibly proud.
It has been another successful week of learning in Reception, with children continuing to grow in confidence while having fun and developing new skills every day.
