Beginning Our Lenten Journey Together
At St Joseph’s Catholic Academy in Norton, pupils have begun a meaningful journey of faith and compassion as they take part in The Big Lent Walk in support of CAFOD. On Friday 20th February, the whole school community stepped forward to launch this special initiative, which will continue every Friday throughout Lent.
Walking With Purpose and Generosity
Each week, children across all year groups will come together to walk as an act of almsgiving and solidarity. Every class has a dedicated CAFOD donation box, and pupils are invited to bring their contributions into school to support the charity’s life‑changing work.
Families are also warmly invited to join in by completing their own Big Lent Walks at home. Children can share their walking achievements in school, helping to build a sense of community and shared purpose.
Living Out Catholic Social Teaching
This initiative reflects key principles of Catholic Social Teaching, especially:
- Solidarity – standing alongside our global brothers and sisters
- Option for the Poor – supporting those most in need
By walking together and fundraising for CAFOD, our children are putting their faith into action and helping to support the common good.
A Meaningful Lenten Commitment
The Big Lent Walk is more than just exercise - it’s an opportunity for pupils to reflect, give, and make a positive impact on the world around them. We look forward to seeing the progress made over the coming weeks as we continue this journey of hope, compassion and community.
